Stance

Three rules we don’t trade away

These are constraints, not preferences. Each one has cost us a feature at least once, and each one is still here.

  • Local first, always

    Recording never touches the network. Anything that genuinely needs connectivity degrades to “not available right now” — never to “the app is broken.” A hike is exactly where you have no signal.

  • Your data leaves

    Every walk exports as GPX: an open format, no export tier, no account needed to get it out. If we stopped making the app tomorrow, you would still have everything you recorded.

  • Legible at midday

    The palette is cream-first because a dark interface disappears in direct sun on an exposed ridge. That is a field decision that happens to also be the brand, not a style rationalised afterwards.

The whole system fits on one screen. It is small on purpose — a palette you can hold in your head is a palette that stays consistent across apps.

Rótulo for the name, system for the numbers

A squared sign-painter’s face carries the wordmark and the headers. Body copy and every dense readout stay in the platform’s own type, with lining figures that don’t jitter as a distance ticks upward — a display face at readout size costs more than it adds. The forms are faceted and cut from straight lines: drawn rough, finished clean, no fake distress.
